Poetry Reading with Joss Barton, Kay Gabriel and Jo Barchi

The girls are in town! Joss Barton and Kay Gabriel join Chicago's Jo Barchi for a night of hypercunt new poetry and performance.

Joss Barton is a writer, journalist, and spoken word performance artist exploring and documenting queer and trans* life, love, and liberation. Her work blends femme-fever dreams over the soundtrack of the American nightmare. Combining prose poetry, non-fiction confessional essays, drag artistry, and spoken word stage performances, Joss examines the myriad states of queer trans womanhoods from historical, political, and pop cultural identities of death, desires, dreams, and disco. She currently curates Transvengence: A Transgender Performance Showcase in Chicago, and her first book of poems Goodbye To A Dream Believed! Is forthcoming from FuturePoem Press Fall 2026.

Kay Gabriel is a writer and organizer. She's the author of, most recently, Perverts (Nightboat, 2025). She's the Editorial Director at the Poetry Project and lives in NYC.

Jo Barchi is a writer and editor living in Chicago. They are an Editor at Joyland Editions, and their writing has been published in the Brooklyn Rail, Social Text Journal, and Changes Magazine. Their chapbook Natural Wine was released last year on Spiral Editions.
